"130. Lamp
A bowl with a crown rests on a high pedestal; it has nine extended spouts in a circle, intended for nine flames. The piece is very old and beautiful, covered with a patina. This lamp as well as all the following brass objects from Aceh come from the villages which were burned down by the Dutch; some were found by my servants, some were bought by me from the soldiers who had taken them as booty. The same is true of the previous section on weapons, which, however, were mostly found on the battlefields after the different battles."
