Shiva and Parvati

The divine couple are in an idyllic landscape, Parvati with her son Ganesha on her lap. Yet we see no ordinary family: in his ascetic practice, Shiva retained his semen even during a thousand years of coitus for the metaphysical enhancement of his own creative powers. Parvati formed her son's body from dust and breathed life into it independently.
