Kala-Kopf

The figure is associated with the nine navagrahas and is a demon responsible for solar and lunar eclipses. The motif was probably part of an ensemble used to decorate a temple façade. The depiction shows the imaginative, floral style of Banteay Srei from the second half of the 10th century.
