Mask Narasingha

During sacred dances, the deity depicted takes possession of the body of the wearer of the mask and thus attains physical presence. The scene in which Vishnu, in his appearance as Narasingha, kills the demon king Hiranya Kashipu comes to life here. The ritual to banish harmful influences shows the influence of ancient folk religious beliefs.
