Lakshmi Narayana

Vishnu in his appearance as the supreme transcendent being Narayana embraces Lakshmi, the female embodiment of his creative powers. As a goddess in her own right, she is worshipped as the giver of happiness, prosperity and fertility. The loving couple is supported by Garuda, Vishnu's mount in its anthropomorphic form, and an elephant, which refers to Lakshmi's function as a fertility goddess.
