Writing in the Museum
Writing Workshop in German with Lucia Mennel
Writing requires space, time, and practice. Every third Saturday of the month, Weltmuseum Wien opens the doors to its library exclusively for writing enthusiasts. Drawing inspiration from the ambiance, the objects, and the exhibitions as well as the creative force of the group, we experiment with words and genres, improve our writing skills, and expand our ethnographic expertise. No previous knowledge needed. All you need is passion for writing.
Lucia Mennel is a social and cultural anthropologist, writer, and writing coach.
Her list of publications includes “Roter Nagellack” (2018), “Havanna LESEBUCH” (2015), “Austrian Embroideries. Geschichte, Akteure und wirtschaftliche Netzwerke” in the exhibition catalogue “African Lace. Eine Geschichte des Handels, der Kreativität und der Mode in Nigeria” edited by Barbara Plankensteiner and Nath Mayo Adediran (2010), and the Cubadisco-awarded CD PARAMPAMPIN – Kinder & Karibik (2007), for which she received the Award for Intercultural Learning of the University of Graz in 2009.
