A night of cultures benefitting the Weltmuseum Wien

The Weltmuseum Wien celebrates a premiere and invites you to the first Weltenball on Friday, 22 November 2019. For one night, cultural diversity will be celebrated with music and dance from all over the world in the premises of the museum. The motto of the ball is "A Night of Cultures": all guests are cordially invited to appear in traditional costumes, live bands from Latin America, Africa and Indonesia as well as World Music DJs will provide a varied musical programme. As an additional highlight, the collections of the Weltmuseum Wien offer space for dance breaks in which you can marvel at the World Heritage and be inspired by guided tours. The proceeds from ticket sales and the tombola will benefit the Weltmuseum Wien and will be used to expand the collection, finance exhibitions and preserve objects.

The Weltenball is under the patronage of Doris Schmidauer, wife of the President of Austria Alexander van der Bellen.

The ball evening begins with relaxed sounds from Indonesia and the first Weltenball is officially opened at 9 pm. Shortly afterwards, the first musical highlights of the evening will follow with "Antonio de Pauda & Band" and the "SAMBrazil Show", which with Brazilian Bossa Nova, samba and funk rhythms will inspire you to dance. From 22.45 it continues with a Latin / standard dance program from "KUARE". After the tombola raffle at midnight, even dance lovers will be convinced by the infectious Indonesian Line Dance Poco Poco. The crowning finale will be "ADAM Project feat. Barbara Alli" with Afro Beat & Funk sounds. Parallel to the main program in the Hall of Columns, World Music DJs will play the disco in the WMW Forum. Short guided tours through selected areas of the collection at 10 p.m. & 11.30 p.m. offer a change of pace.
