Group of wax figures in traditional costumes from Mora, Dalarna, Sweden

um 1867/nach 1873 | Konstantin Danhelovsky

The photograph of wax figures created by the sculptor Carl August Söderman (1835-1907), dressed in traditional costumes of Mora, Dalarna, Sweden. These sculptures were exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1867, in the Swedish and Norwegian sections. The photograph has a horizontal format. In the image, four figures are depicted from left to right: a standing man, two standing women, and a sitting man. In front of the figure of the sitting man, there is a table on which a clock face and parts of a clock mechanism are lying. The photograph is taken against a backdrop of a plain screen or wall. It is black and white, hand-colored, and mounted on the branded passe-partout of the Eurenius & Quist studio. Across the bottom edge of the front part of the passe-partout, there are inscriptions 'C.A. Söderman, Skulpt.' and ‘Mora (Dalarne)’. Anastasia Lishnevskaya
