4.30 pmDeep Dive Thursday: Life beyond the Earth’s horizon
Space architect Barbara Imhof in conversation with Claudia Augustat
In view of the climate crisis, the question arises again and again whether other planets, such as Mars, can offer humans a new home. Artistic positions in the exhibition see space less as a place of settlement and more as a space of possibility to try out alternate forms of society. But what do concrete considerations for life on Mars look like? Under what circumstances is life possible there and are concepts for space able to help us here on Earth as well?
Barbara Imhof is a space architect, design developer, researcher, and lecturer at various European universities. Her international research and development projects deal with so-called spaceship parameters, such as living with limited resources, minimal and transformable spaces, and resource-efficient systems. For almost twenty years, Barbara Imhof has taught at various European universities, such as ETH Zurich, Chalmers University in Gothenburg, the University of Applied Arts and the University of Technology in Vienna. Since 2015, Barbara Imhof has been on the board of Women in Aerospace Europe. She is also a Senior Member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.
