INDIGO – Between Tradition and Contemporary Art

The tour takes visitors to the most beautiful indigo exhibits, which illustrate the global, timeless presence and use of this special natural dye. Selected indigo textiles from North America, Indonesia, Japan, China, Ethiopia and Central Asia invite visitors to immerse themselves in the fascination of this globally widespread plant dye.

During our tour, you will also encounter inspiring Mexican textiles in the special exhibition The Colours of the Earth. Modern Textile Art in Mexico, which focuses on the revival of traditional Mexican dyeing techniques and their enrichment through new processes.

The tour also takes you to Tabita Rezaire's Calabash Nebula. Cosmological Tales of Connection, where you can wander through contemporary installations and encounter indigo-dyed cloths dedicated to the Orisha Yemoja.
