7 pmLampah - Tracing Archives
Film(excerpts) and lecture by Bianca Figl
“Lampah” is a danced journey through archives and explores the tension between historical and lived reality in their political contexts. The film tells of pain, resilience and transformation that are inscribed in these archives. Between Java, Indonesia and Vienna, it weaves together threads of family knowledge and transgenerational tradition. It invites us to engage with memories, to reinterpret them and to preserve them with care.
Bianca Figl combines research and artistic practice in her work. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Arts Practice Research at the University of Limerick (IRL), focusing on Indonesian (dance) bodies as an archive in a (post-)colonial context. She teaches at the University of Vienna and is a guest lecturer at the University of Arts Surakarta (Indonesia).
