"Pamana" is a Filipino term for heritage, and "ipapamana" refers to the act of transmitting or passing on both tangible and intangible cultural heritage to the next generation.

This lecture by Jeremy Barns, Director of the National Museum of the Philippines, aims to impart to the next generation of Filipinos the significance of the Philippine Collections at the Weltmuseum Wien and its relation to the Ethnographic Collection of the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila.

The types of ethnographic objects, the represented indigenous and cultural communities, the timeline of acquisition and the major collectors will be presented. The projects of the Philippine Government to inventory, document, and repatriate the dispersed Philippine Collections in Europe, the Americas, and other parts of the world will be reviewed and discussed. Finally, the lecture will also delve into the potential involvement of Filipino communities in shaping, appreciating, and accessing the Philippines Collection via exhibitions and related public initiatives.
