Panel discussion
The event will be held in English.

During the panel discussion on the East Asian collections of the imperial royal navy (k.k. Kriegsmarine) and their collectors, the problematic nature of "collecting methods" will be discussed on the basis of specific objects. Each participant will present an object from her research practice and elaborate on the respective colonial context. The aim of the discussion is to reconnect the collections of the imperial royal navy (k.k. Kriegsmarine) from the various institutes of the Habsburg Monarchy in order to uncover the activities of central colonial actors acting as collectors, donors, etc. here. In addition to ethnographic objects, the imperial royal navy (k.k. Kriegsmarine) also collected numerous natural history objects.
