7 pmQurʾān in Europe – European Qurʾān?
Reflections from a Muslim Perspective by Amena Shakir – The European Qurʾān
What significance does the Qurʾān hold for Muslims in Europe? How do they read and understand it? What role does it play in their daily lives? This lecture will reflect on the role of the Qurʾān for Muslims in Europe. It will closely examine the place the Qurʾān occupies in everyday life and how it is passed on to the next generations. Additionally, the lecture will discuss the influence of context on understanding the Qurʾān – to what extent do Muslims in Austria and Europe develop a different understanding of the Qur'an compared to other regions?
The Lecture is followed by an opportunity for discussion.
