Curators tour in the context of FotoWien

This guided visit with Curator Dr. Hanin Hannouch (she-her) centers on photographers from the so-called "Global South" extant in the collection of the Weltmuseum Wien in order to de-colonize photography and argue that it was never an instrument exclusively used by white cis-men, regardless of what historians write. Through the visual productions of Lala Deen Dayal (1844-1905), Dr. Juliana Dilenius (1884-1949), Eduardo Unda (1829-1879), Govindram and Oodeyram (biographical dates unknown), among others, we will reflect upon how the museum’s mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion structure its vast holdings and how to break through them in order to ensure a fair visibility.
