In collaboration with London-based design studio Superflux, the Weltmuseum Wien is presenting the immersive exhibition The Craftocene. For the first time, three major works by Superflux can be seen together: the multispecies banquet Refuge for Resurgence (2021), ongoing explorations into river intelligence Nobody Told Me Rivers Dream (2025), and a new commission created for Weltmuseum Wien, Relics of Abundance (2026).
more about this exhibitionThis exhibition shines a spotlight on ten plants that have been favourites of European living rooms and balconies for centuries, though their natural habitats are outside the continent. These plants share a history with our ethnographic collections; some of them joined the objects on long naval voyages to reach Europe and the museums.
more about this exhibitionIndah Arsyad’s solo exhibition The Ultimate Breath focuses on breathing as a central theme, symbolising global issues such as environmental pollution and climate change. The exhibition brings together art, science, technology, and culture, exploring the connections between mythology and technology and highlighting how important both are for maintaining balance in the universe.

In collaboration with the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Weltmuseum Wien is reinterpreting the ethnological museum as not merely a repository for silent artefacts, but as a laboratory for future, globally sustainable lifestyles. By learning from diverse knowledge systems, museum collections can become tools for sustainable design strategies.
more about this exhibitionAs the very heart of the Museum, the permanent exhibition has been redesigned from the ground up. Strung together like a chain of pearls, the series of stories told in the thirteen galleries feature the core of the permanent exhibition combined with contemporary interpretations. We would like to give you the opportunity to explore these galleries and get a first glimpse of what there is to see at the Weltmuseum Wien.
