[Translate to English:]
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, or so the English saying goes. On this tour, we look for objects that tell us about romantic relationships in different parts of the world: from the search for love, to lust, marriage proposals, and alliances, to unrequited love and symbols of fidelity. Afterward, we’ll sit down together over a cup of tea or coffee and reflect on our own love stories.

Storytelling writing workshop

A group of teenagers and adults gather around a large table covered with art supplies, including colored pencils and pastels. They appear engaged in a creative activity, with some individuals holding art materials while others look on, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and creativity.

Around 200,000 objects are kept in the depot of the Weltmuseum Wien. In order to convey the character of the depot, the objects in the Galleries of Marvel stand and lie closely lined up next to one another without any information. At this place of marvel, you are invited to create your own object stories and exchange them with the group.

Listen, Play, Dance – From the Amazon to Tierra del Fuego!

This journey takes us to South America: into the Amazon rainforest of Brazil and to the islands of Tierra del Fuego. We listen to mythical stories, learn about rituals, and try out dances related to growing up—such as the dance of the Sateré Mawé during the ant ritual. With the Selk’nam people of Tierra del Fuego, we discover the role of fright and surprise. Afterwards, we create a small grimace theatre and see who wins the prize for the scariest or funniest face. Each child designs an indiaca, a special ball originating in the Amazon, and tries it out straight away. At the end, something special is made together for the birthday child.
