Dervish hats, pers. جات, tāǧ [pronounced: tādsch, “crown”] var-ied from order to order, both in shape as well as in colour. This hat is composed of several parts and the colours and the num-ber of parts (four, twelve, nine or seven) have symbolic meaning (4 = the four stages of knowledge, 12 = the twelve imams etc.). Depending on the order they belonged to, pointed hats, patch caps or a turban were also worn.
