Consul Johann Schild with two civil servants in front of a house
ca. 1900 | Johann Schild
In 1888 Johann Schild made the most important decision of his life. He decided to take up a leading position in the firm Gebroeders Veth in Padang, West Sumatra, and travelled on board the ship Prins van Oranje which left Amsterdam on 1 September 1888. Here we can probably see the house of Consul Schild in Limau Manis, Padang. Consul Schild stands in front of the house with two officials, in about 1900.
