The figure represents a deceased person and is adorned with the status symbols that he was allowed to wear due to his achievements. The tattoos also mark his social status. Until the end of the funeral ceremonies, the figure offered the soul of the deceased a substitute body. With the end of the ceremony, the figure lost its value and would have been left to decay.
This object was commissioned by Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf and is a model of such a figure.
