Lamak Ornament

Lamak

ca. 1935 | Helene Potjewijd

Such geometric motifs and designs occur in endless variety. Often motifs have no specific name. Sometimes, however, different designs have the same name, or one pattern has different names. These names are related to plants, animals, textiles, objects, or describe the form of the pattern or the way it is made. Finally, long strips are used to make a border along the sides and ends of the lamak.
