Astrological diagram Astrologisches Diagramm (tib. srid pa'i ho)
Manjushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom, is depicted on this copper engraving above the tortoise Rubal. He has written the astrological teachings for the benefit of mankind with various diagrams on the belly of a tortoise. This depiction, whether engraved in copper or painted on canvas, shows all the components of astrological calculations such as diagrams or calculation tables, but is not used for the actual astrological calculations. Rather, it is to be understood as an amulet that protects against harmful astrological influences.
