Drink horn
Rice beer played a central role in traditional Naga societies as a means of social bonding, but also as food, a ritual drink and an offering to the gods. With the forced introduction of the alcohol ban under pressure from the Protestant church and some women's associations, the situation changed: people replaced rice beer with imported liquor and drank in secret, which led to a rapid increase in alcoholism. However, rice beer is still consumed in abundance at traditional festivals to this day.
