Inscribed
This feather headdress is one of the few pieces that can be attributed to a person. The inventory notes: ‘Feather crown “Kanitara” of the Caziquen Prehá of the Apiacá’. A comparable feather headdress was depicted by the Monegasque-Brazilian painter Hércules Florence, who accompanied Count Georg Heinrich von Langsdorff on his expedition to Brazil from 1826 to 1829. It is not known whether the wearer of the headdress is the aforementioned Preha.
