Men's trousers

The night sky black, indigo-dyed fabric made from hand-spun and hand-woven cotton has a ribbed texture when stroked. This is because it is made up of countless narrow woven strips of fabric with the finest hand stitching. The broad contrasting decorative seams are virtuoso needlework reminiscent of needle lace; their perforated pattern allowed air to reach the legs. The wide, attached waistband made of light-coloured cotton fit every waist size, nestled comfortably against the skin, and formed a kind of ‘wear part’ that could be replaced if necessary. Pants such as these were worn under wide, long outer garments and had all the makings to accompany their owners through many years of life.
