Bawang is punished

Ni Bawang und Ni Kesuna

ca. 1935 | Helene Potjewijd

It so happens that Bawang finds out about the lavish presents. Actuated by jealousy, she pretends to be in an emergency and walks into the forest. Bawang takes off her clothes, apparently in the expectation of receiving beautiful clothes and precious jewellery. She encounters no birds, but instead snakes and insects attack the lazy girl. Screaming with pain and mortal agony, farmers from the surrounding area come running to help Bawang but fail.
