Friends in Their Fifties (Ali Raza)

My work has been changing since I have been making art. There is no other constant theme in my work than the theme of change itself. The painting "Friends in Their Fifties" was done when I just graduated from NCA and joined NCA as an instructor. I started to get invited on diners and started socializing with other artist's colleagues. Most of them were senior collegues and many of them were my teachers at NCA. I am primarily a painter but I work both in 2D and 3D media. recently I have made developed an interest employing non -conventional material - our daily use commodities - for my art making. The everyday items carry meanings, myths for us in terms of their funtion and relevance to the time and culture we live in. I like to engage myself in altering or adding new meanings and ideas to our collective understandings." (Ali Raza, 2007)
