"Group of Setong"

ca. 1925 | Paul Schebesta

This group photograph shows the inhabitants of a Semang camp where Schebesta spent a long period of time. Here he also secretly stole a body for his anthropological collection. Schebesta's caption in the journal Radio Wien of 17th March 1933 tersely stated, "The group of Semang Menri, by whom I obtained Ketitir's skeleton." Picture captions influence what we believe we are seeing.
