Vishnu
18. Jahrhundert | k. k. Münz- und Antikenkabinett
Vishnu sits in the pose of royal calm. In three hands he holds the symbols typical of him: The conch is considered a sign of his creative power, the throwing disk stands for his spirit, which liberates from illusory self-existence and leads to fusion with the "Eternal Truth", and the mace as a symbol of his primordial power, from which all mental and physical strength is derived. Vishnu raises his fourth hand in the "suchi-mudra" - a gesture that draws attention.
