Trousers Sokoto

early 1970s | Barbara Plankensteiner

Combined with the matching short-sleeve shirt (buba), these 70s flared trousers create a cool party outfit that spans generations and continents. Very easy to imagine with chunky platform shoes. On closer examination, you may be amazed at the proportion of embroidery bars and perforated pattern openings. Although the individual holes are not as large as in some other Vorarlberg export fabrics, they are all the more densely and widely distributed. Hardly any of the light-coloured base fabric of this virtuoso embroidery is still visible.
